It’s now twenty years since I compiled Two Syllables Volume One with my FW co-founder Andy H. We released it on March 1st 2004, and in the years since have racked up almost 300 releases on our little imprint. Next year we’ll be celebrating this milestone anniversary in the only way we know: by releasing music that we believe in from artists that we love.
This year has been quiet by our standards, but looking back I realise there is still plenty to be proud of, whether it’s from returning artists like Kaidi Tatham and Souleance, newcomers like Amanda Whiting and New Sector Movements or long-time members of our extended family like Ruby Wood. As well as one track from each of this year’s releases we’ve got a contribution from our sister label CoOp Presents in the shape of Alex Phountzi’s remix of EVM128’s mighty Gamma Riddim, and an exclusive from our good friend Mo Fingaz.
Putting this together makes me excited for what’s to come next year - the schedule already has 8 artist albums, 2 compilations and numerous EPs lined up. And knowing the musical family that we’ve built I’m sure there’ll be more in the works; it’s going to be a fruitful year.
Thanks for listening and supporting our music - we truly appreciate it and couldn’t do it without you. On a personal note I’d like to shout out our small but mighty team for keeping the wheels spinning. Bobby, Neil, Sam and Miles: thank you. Get ready for a busy 12 months. And to our artists - thank you, thank you, thank you for trusting us with your vision. Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
